November 2, 2018 was a sad day for the global jazz community, we lost one of the greats, a true musical leader. I first met Roy Hargrove when we were in high school, he already had it then. So grateful to be able to play with, hang with, and learn from Roy.
As a musical tribute, I recorded this performance of Roy’s composition “Mental Phrasing”. It first appeared on his With The Tenors of Our Time album in 1994.
